The creation of Olio dei Papi brand combines the will to rediscover the local productive vocation and the history of the territories concerned. In fact, based on articulated historiographic research, it has evidenced that, thanks to the Popes great land reform, the olive tree is still the most cultivated tree species in the southern Latium.

The research conducted has led to understand that with the reforms “Motu Proprio” of PIO VI del 21 aprile 1778, the papal state transformed the economic identity and the productive vocation of these territories. As evidence, the cultivation of the olive tree was modified from a subsistence economy. linked to the satisfaction of family needs for self-consumption, to a real organized production that has allowed the satisfaction of the needs of Rome and the papacy for many and many decades.
